Writing a scientific paper with thesify
Make your writing smarter, smoother, and more impactful.
Writing a strong paper starts with a clear argument and solid support. With thesify.ai, simply upload your draft and let Theo, your AI assistant help you strengthen your arguments, improve your structure, and find the most relevant, high-quality resources to back up your statements. Designed specifically for students and academics, thesify.ai takes the guesswork out of academic writing, so you can focus on writing papers that are clear, convincing, and ready to have impact.
*This isn't a formal peer review. The goal is to give helpful feedback to help you improve your manuscript.*
Upload your draft
Begin by uploading your paper draft using the box on thesify's homepage. Thesify accepts DOCX (Word), PDF, or Google Docs. You don't have to worry about uploading unpublished drafts, your documents are fully protected and kept confidential.
Describe your work
After uploading your paper, Theo will ask you to specify the document type, field of study and a few other details about your paper to help him tailor his feedback. Theo will also ask you if you are the author of the uploaded scientific article or not. As an author you'd like to receive feedback on how to improve the draft.
With this information Theo will compile his feedback report. Depending on the size of your research paper, this may take a few seconds.

Read feedback summary
On the right side of the screen, you will find your detailed feedback summary, which highlights the strengths of your essay, areas for improvement, and an overall assessment. The AI will outline what works well in your argument and writing, what can be improved for greater clarity, and provide Theo’s recommendations with high-impact suggestions for refining your scientific paper.
Check suggested topics
You’ll also find a list of questions around topics covered in your paper along with an assessment of how well they are answered in your article. This will help you strengthen your message and discover gaps in your arguments.
Improve purpose
Because Theo knows how a scientific paper should be written, it can tell you how well your article fulfills the purpose of a scientific paper. In this feedback section Theo will tell you how well your manuscript communicates ideas, argues a point, informs, and engages the reader. You can use this feedback to improve your overall argument structure.
Review your thesis statement
Theo tries to distill the main message of your scientific paper. This is called the Thesis Statement. Theo then checks your Thesis Statement agains a number of criteria and tells you if there is room for improvement or not. If you find that Theo has not correctly grasped your intended message, you can edit it within this section and re-run Theo's evaluation. However don't forget to also clarify your manuscript to make your message more accessible.
Assess the quality of your evidence
A well written scientific paper supports all statements that are not obvious or that are debatable by external evidence. So in the Evidence section you will find an evaluation of how well your statements are supported by either good arguments or by external sources and references. Use this feedback to improve your arguments and to fill gaps in your references.
How to keep improving?
To find relevant resources for your scientific paper, simply open the Resources tab. It shows articles, books, and other sources that are relevant for your paper. If you have not yet decided where to publish your paper, you can also find the most appropriate journals and conferences.
You can also get a Paper Digest for any article or document: just upload it and select the Digest tab when the feedback arrives. There, you’ll find a concise summary highlighting the key points, contributions, and takeaways of the article. Theo’s Digest helps you grasp the essence of the paper without having to read every section in detail—perfect for saving time and identifying what’s most relevant to your work.
If you want to keep working on your paper without having Thesify open all the time or if you want to keep Theo's Feedback for later reference, you can download it to your computer. You can also share it with your co-authors so they can benefit from Thesify's evaluation, too.
